Hard Disk

Leaseweb offers two types of SATA & NVMe SSDs.

Mix Use - Suitable for most workloads.

Disks that that require a medium to low amount of write cycles. It is used for mixed or read intensive applications, where the read/write workloads are split approximately 70/30 offering medium endurance. These disks offer high read and write performance suitable for most workloads.

Write Intensive - Suitable for write intensive applications.

Disks that are meant for applications that require a lot of write cycles. It is used for write intensive applications, where the read/write workloads are split approximately 50/50. These disks offer the highest endurance and are meant for use cases such as HPC, intensive database logging, high performing analytics, and caching. Next to endurance, these disks also offer more write performance due to higher random write IOPS.

Software RAID

There can be many good reasons for using RAID. A few are; the ability to combine several physical disks into one larger "virtual" device, performance improvements, and redundancy.

It is very important to understand that RAID is not a substitute for backups. Some RAID levels will make your systems immune to data loss from single-disk failures, but RAID will not allow you to recover from an accidental "rm -rf /". RAID will also not help you preserve your data if the server holding the RAID itself is lost in one way or the other (i.e. raid controller failure, earthquake, etc.) RAID will generally allow you to keep systems up and running, in case of common hardware problems (single disk failure). It is not in itself a complete data safety solution. This is very important to realize!

There are various raid level available, giving different trade-offs of protection against data loss, capacity, and speed. RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10 are the most commonly found, and cover most requirements.

- RAID 0 (striped disks) distributes data across several disks in a way that gives improved speed and no lost capacity, but all data on all disks will be lost if any one disk fails. Although such an array has no actual redundancy, it is customary to call it RAID 0.

- RAID 1 (mirrored settings/disks) duplicates data across every disk in the array, providing full redundancy. Two (or more) disks each store exactly the same data, at the same time, and at all times. Data is not lost as long as one disk survives. Total capacity of the array equals the capacity of the smallest disk in the array. At any given instant, the contents of each disk in the array are identical to that of every other disk in the array. At LeaseWeb, by default RAID 1 will be provided only on the first two disks of the server. The remaining disks are left unconfigured.

OS

Dedicated Servers: LeaseWeb offers a wide selection of Operating Systems (OS), so you can select the OS that best matches your business. If you require an OS that is not shown on our website, please contact our Sales department to discuss the possibilities. Limitation: 32-bit operating systems do not support more than 4 GB RAM (without adaptations). Cloud Hosting: The selection of OS for (Premium) Virtual Servers and Cloud instances is limited to those shown on the website.

3 . Network

Uplink Port Speed

The uplink port is the maximum network connection speed from the server to the Internet. All servers have a 100/1000 Mbps network card connected for Internet traffic. Our 10 Gbps servers are, of course, supplied with 10 Gbps network cards. Weekly, monthly, and yearly bandwidth graphs are available in real time via the Customer Portal (CP), LeaseWeb’s customer portal. You can also view the projected bandwidth during a billing cycle to help you plan for future needs.

Bandwidth

The Volume network includes an economical mix of transit providers allowing for the lower cost to be passed on to the customer. The Premium network includes more transit providers and better speed to those hard to reach providers on the Internet. Leaseweb can meet all your network requirements - depending on the type of application you are hosting at Leaseweb we are able to recommend different networks at varying price points and grades of service.

Fair Use Policy (FUP)

The service is provided to end-user Customers for normal, fair, and reasonable use. Bandwidth usage is to be reasonably consistent throughout every month, without irregular bandwidth usage patterns, either individually or as part of a group of Customer servers. For more details please see the Leaseweb Policies

IPv4

Virtual Servers and Cloud:
Every Virtual Server and Cloud instance is provided with a single IPv4 address. Please note that it is not possible to order additional IPv4 addresses. For Private Cloud you can order up to 256 IP adresses.

Dedicated Servers/Bare Metal Servers:
You can order up to 32 IP addresses for Dedicated or Bare Metal Servers.

Colocation:
You can order up to 256 IP addresses for a half-rack or full rack. For shared Colocation the limit is 16 IP addresses.

Please note that the RIPE Network Coordination Centre has very stringent application criteria for IP assignment. LeaseWeb adheres to this policy and has implemented an internal procedure to comply. This may mean that you are not eligible for the maximum number of IP addresses as stated above. Our sales team will be happy to consult with you on the next steps for requesting additional addresses via sales@leaseweb.com.

DDoS IP protection

DDoS IP Protection Standard
Available for all Leaseweb products, and has the capacity to handle volumetric attacks of up to 5Gbps.

DDoS IP Protection Advanced
Offers more protection, the capacity to handle volumetric attacks of up to 10Gbps, and the ability to choose the right detection profile for your traffic patterns.
